Itinerary
At the foot of the Conturines massif, winter creates a frozen wall stretching 200m / 656' wide and rising between 30 and 50m / 98' to 164'. Several possible lines make this an ideal spot for ice climbing even if you're just learning or wanting to push your limits. Your certified mountain guide will meet you in Alta Badia for a full equipment check and safety briefing. They'll teach or refresh key ice climbing techniques: proper use of ice axes, crampon placement, body positioning, and efficient movement on steep frozen terrain. Once ready, you'll start climbing the selected ice routes. Your guide chooses lines based on your ability and helps you improve technique, control, and fluidity throughout the day. The setting is raw alpine: towering Dolomite walls above, deep winter silence, and the sound of ice beneath your tools. Between climbs, rest and take in the different sections of the ice wall. This is demanding, technical climbing. You need good fitness and a willingness to push yourself. The reward? A full day on ice in one of the Dolomites' most powerful winter environments.Want more winter adventures? Check out our Daily Activities.
