Itinerary
From Alta Badia, you’ll snowshoe up to the Pralongia high plateau, where you’ll enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. Take a moment to breath in the pure mountain air and soak up the unforgettable sights around you. This area is in fact surrounded by various mountains, the most famous being Marmolada (3,343m / 10,964'), the Queen of the Dolomites. This towering giant is not only the highest peak in the region but also home to the largest remaining glacier. The vistas stretch from Pelmo to Civetta, Piz Boè, Tofana di Rozes, and La Varella, just to name a few. Although it's a relatively small plateau, it offers a sense of vastness and grandeur that will leave you in awe.

Embrace the snowy beauty of nature on a picturesque winter hike to Pra de Störes
Today, you’ll enjoy an incredible hike to the Pralongià high plateau and Störes peak.In the morning, take a private transfer to the Armentarola area, just above the village of San Cassiano, set in a true winter wonderland.From Armentarola, begin your snowshoeing adventure on path n.18, crossing wide meadows. At the junction, turn right onto path n.24B, which eventually merges into n.24A. Ascend through an enchanting forest until you reach the tree line, revealing a wide snowy landscape dotted with charming huts.Reach the small summit cross of Piz de Störes, standing at 2,181m / 7,155', the highest point of the Pralongià Plateau; the peak and plateau present an idyllic environment with magnificent views of many well-known Dolomite mountains and mountain groups: Settsass, Col di Lana, Marmolada, the Sella Massif, Cir, Gardenaccia, Sassongher, Sass de Putia, the Fanes Group with Lavarella, Conturines and Lagazuoi. In the distance, you can also spot the Civetta Massif and the Alps on the border with Austria.Just below the summit cross, Rifugio Pralongià (2,157m / 7,077') awaits, for a typical Alpine lunch (included).After your meal, continue snowshoeing on path n.23, which will quickly lead you to Rifugio Bioch (2,079m / 6,821'). From there, take path n.21A to Piz Sorega (2,017m / 6,617'), reach the Piz Sorega cable car station and ride it downhill to San Cassiano (tickets included).Enjoy the rest of the day discovering this cozy Alpine town!(~3,5 hours winter hiking, 11km / 6,6 miles, 530m / 1,748' ascent, 160m / 527' descent.)
